and rainy days

Rain is always a welcome break from the monotonous sunshine that plagues southern California, but I’ve been dreading this winter’s unusually damp weather of late. I’d been cursing the rain today but when I looked outside my window as dusk fell, I pulled on my jeans and dirty black Vans as fast as I could and ran outside and started shooting:

Took this from the front of my apartment building, then ventured to the alley behind it to avoid the CSC guard’s stares.

These pictures aren’t so great, and definitely don’t do the sky much justice. But you get the idea.

i’m shallow

One or two (or three, I can’t remember) years ago, Hana got me to watch Godard’s film “Breathless” with her. I didn’t really want to watch it, but if I’d seen the Criterion Collection’s version of its cover maybe I’d have been more willing to give it a chance.

Then again, I probably still wouldn’t have liked it.

Uhh, turns out that WAS the cover version of the one I (attempted to) watch. I never finished it and the most memorable part of it to me is some skinny, crazy girl hollering about the New York Herald Tribune.

smells like children

I’ve never understood the appeal of being a parent but I’m starting to realize that having a kid must be fun because it’s like playing dress-up with life-sized Barbies.
